Georgia (9-0, 7-0 SEC) travels to Knoxville this weekend to take on the Tennessee Volunteers (5-4, 3-3 SEC) in a clash of SEC East rivals. Tennessee has a chance to become bowl eligible in Josh Heupel’s first year as head coach if they can upset the top-ranked Bulldogs. The Volunteers are averaging 38 points per game and have a far superior passing offense than anyone Georgia has faced so far; this could be an advantage if they don’t turn the ball over. If they do, this game could get ugly in a hurry. Quarterback Hendon Hooker will need to sustain longer drives as well, unlike last week against Kentucky, who doesn’t have nearly the same amount of offensive force.
It isn’t known yet whether Stetson Bennett or J.T. Daniels will start tomorrow, but I don’t believe it will matter much considering the Volunteer defense is allowing 28 points per game to their opponents. We saw Daniels play for the first time since the Vanderbilt game last week late in the game against Missouri, but it was in a backup role. He played well, but some rust was noticeable. I still believe he is the more viable option at the quarterback position for the Bulldogs, but may need some more gametime before he is ready to take the Georgia offense to the next level. Stetson Bennett on the other hand has gone above and beyond since taking over, and will likely have to show some regression in order to be replaced.
