#1 Georgia 43, Missouri 6

For the first time since the Vanderbilt game, we were finally able to see JT Daniels play. It was later in the game and was well in hand for the Bulldogs, but nonetheless, we’ve been waiting weeks to confirm whether JT was still hurt or if he was getting beat out by Stetson. I don’t think he’s being beaten out by Stetson, but I do think that he is still rusty as we saw with the interception that was the result of throwing behind his receiver. Daniels would finish the game 7/11 for 82 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Stetson Bennett had a great day, going 13/19 for 255 yards and 2 touchdowns. Missouri quarterbacks Brady Cook and Tyler Macon, on the other hand, did their best against the nation’s best defense but could accomplish very little. They had just 78 and 74 yards respectively and no touchdowns. Running back Tyler Badie, who came into the game with the fourth-most rushing yards in all of college football, had just 41 on 9 carries. Missouri drops to 4-5 (1-4 SEC) while Georgia continues their undefeated run, now 9-0 (7-0 SEC). Next up for Missouri is South Carolina and Georgia heads to Knoxville to take on the Volunteers.

#2 Alabama 20, LSU 14

LSU’s defense gave Alabama a run for their money, without the offense’s help. Any defense that holds this Alabama offense to 6 yards total rushing deserves to win the game. That was not the case this time because of the train wreck that was LSU’s offense. They gained less than 300 total yards and only converted 27% of their third downs. Arguably the biggest difference in the game was Max Johnson’s interception with about a minute to go in the first half. It was all knotted up at 7, LSU could have run the clock almost all the way down and punted. Instead, they decided to be aggressive and it cost them. Alabama got the ball deep in LSU territory and drove the rest of the way for a touchdown to put them up 14-7 at the half. This incredibly avoidable incidence brought the crowd back from the dead and momentum shifted back to Alabama. Bryce Young was sacked 4 times but managed to throw for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jameson Williams had 160 yards of receiving alone. Alabama improves to 8-1(5-1 SEC) and will be at home against New Mexico State on Saturday, while LSU falls to 4-5 (2-4 SEC) and welcomes Arkansas.

#14 Texas A&M 20, #13 Auburn 3

To say that Texas A&M’s defense dominated would be an understatement. They held Auburn to just 226 total yards and held Bo Nix to just 153 with an interception and a fumble. Zach Calzada didn’t have a great day either but made a few fewer mistakes than Nix and that was the deciding factor in the game. Running back Isaiah Spiller rushed for 112 yards on 21 carries and Devon Achane ran for 98 on just 10 carries. On the other side Tank Bigsby ran for 69 yards on 15 carries and caught 4 passes for 16 yards. Texas A&M kept themselves alive in the SEC West race and solidified themselves in second place. They’re now 7-2 (4-2 SEC). They still need Alabama to lose one of their last two conference games in order to win the division. Auburn drops to 6-3 (3-2 SEC) and plays Mississippi State at home this Saturday. The Aggies have yet another obstacle in Ole Miss this weekend in Oxford.

#16 Ole Miss 27, Liberty 14

Jerrion Ealy scores twice as Ole Miss spoils Hugh Freeze’s return to Oxford. Ealy carried the ball 10 times for 115 yards to go along with the two touchdowns. Matt Corral went 20/27 for 324 yards and one touchdown. The Rebels also had two receivers break the 100-yard mark, Dannis Jackson and John Rhys Plumlee. Highly-rated Liberty draft prospect Malik Willis didn’t perform up to the hype in this one though, going 16/25 for only 173 yards, no touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. Those interceptions would prove to be disastrous as Liberty outrushed the Rebels, controlled the clock by nearly double, and gained 10 more first downs. Ole Miss improves to 7-2 (3-2 SEC) and remains third in the SEC West. The Rebels welcome #14 Texas A&M to town this Saturday.

Arkansas 31, #17 Mississippi State 28

Nolan McCord misses game-tying field goal, Bulldogs fall to Arkansas. Despite outgaining the Razorbacks 486 to 393, Mississippi State just couldn’t get it done. They had over 400 yards passing and won the time-of-possession battle, but also lost the turnover margin 1-0. Will Rogers had another monster day, going 36/48 for 417 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Arkansas rushed for over 200 yards and scored 2 touchdowns on the ground. Quarterback KJ Jefferson threw for 191 yards on 19 completions and threw for 1 touchdown. Mississippi State drops to 5-4 (3-3 SEC) and welcomes Auburn to Starkville this week. Arkansas improves to 6-3 (2-3 SEC) and heads to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.

Tennessee 45, #18 Kentucky 42

Tennessee hangs on despite only having the ball for a little over 13 minutes. The stats get even more ridiculous. Kentucky gained over 600 yards of total offense and had twice as many first downs. Will Levis threw for 372 yards, 5 total touchdowns, and 1 interception. Hendon Hooker stole the show, though, with his explosive passing. He threw 4 touchdowns on just 15 completions and also ran for 41 yards. Tennessee is now 5-4 (3-3 SEC) and has a chance to knock off the #1 team in the land this weekend at home. Kentucky continues to falter, now 6-3 (4-3 SEC). The Wildcats have lost three in a row, but essentially get a bye this week as they play Vanderbilt in Nashville.

South Carolina 40, Florida 17

South Carolina shocks the Gators as Florida loses its third straight. Things got worse for Florida fans this week as they got routed by South Carolina 40-17. The Gamecocks went with a steady rushing attack and it worked as they accumulated over 280 yards. Kevin Harris and Zaquandre White each had over 100 yards. On the other side, Florida, whose offense runs smoothest when they stay on the ground, only totaled 82 yards rushing. Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson was only available in an emergency role due to an illness. Emory Jones replaced him, throwing for 258 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. The Gators fall under .500 at 4-5 (2-5 SEC), they take on Samford at noon on Saturday. South Carolina improves to 5-4 (2-4 SEC) and they’ll be traveling to Missouri this weekend as they look to keep the momentum going.
