SEC Week 10 thoughts

Week 10 features some key games and matchups that could determine some opportunities for teams fighting for bigger bowls.

Let’s discuss a few games I have circled:

Tennessee/ Kentucky

Two teams going in opposite directions. Kentucky coming off back to back losses and Tennessee coming off a loss to Alabama in which they held their own. Tennessee comes into this game with an explosive offense led by Hendon Hooker. This is a must win for both. Tennessee in terms of momentum, Kentucky on the other hand for the chance to play for a NY6 bowl. A loss to Tennessee tomorrow night pretty much ends that talk.

Arkansas/ Mississippi St

Right now Mississippi St is rolling. Can Arkansas do enough to slow down the Air raid offense that’s been humming the last few weeks. Last week Kentucky found out the hard way as Will Rogers completed 36 of his 39 passes, an SEC single-game completion percentage record for a passer. Can Arkansas’s defense figure things out? Injuries has bit Arkansas quite a bit on defense and right now I just don’t have the faith in this defense to make the stops.

Georgia/ Missouri

Georgia is coming into this game with the nation best defense. Missouri on the other hand is coming into this game without Connor Bazelak and that doesn’t spell good for the backups Tyler Macon, Brady Cook. One good thing in a bad season for Missouri has been the play of Tyler Badie. Badie ranks No. 4 nationally with 989 rushing yards. This week though he’ll have his work cut out for him against one historic defense Georgia has put on the field this season.

Alabama/ LSU

LSU is just waiting for the season to be over at this point. This is a rivalry game and rivalry game tend to be closer than expected but expect Bryce Young to make a lot of plays against this LSU defense. LSU just isn’t the team they were 2 years ago. Alabama wins this game relatively easy.

Texas A&M/ Auburn

Game of the week. Auburn is on a high right now and if auburn wins out they’ll be heading to the SEC Championship. Bo Nix is having quite the year down on the plains, especially running and throwing as well. I see this game as a toss up. Look for Texas A&M to be ready to go after the bye week. No pick on this game as I put this one in the toss up category. Auburn has won every meeting at Kyle field, which is one impressive record at 4-0.

Liberty/ Ole Miss

Hugh Freeze is back in town. This should be one of the most fun games of the weekend. Liberty has a dynamic QB in Malik Willis and Ole Miss is not right now setting the world on fire on offense either, could Liberty pull the upset? Yes. Do they? No. Ole Miss wins in a shootout, but either way this game will be fun.

Florida/ South Carolina

Both of these teams are desperately looking for any momentum right now. Florida coming off a loss to Georgia. The Gators are 120th in the country with a -7 turnover margin and lead the country with 14 interceptions. Right now Florida isn’t doing anything right. Somebody has to win this game and Florida will get things back on track and win in Columbia.
