Georgia-Missouri Preview

Missouri (4-4, 1-3 SEC) will be traveling to Athens tomorrow to take on undefeated Georgia and they’ll be doing it without their starting quarterback Connor Bazelak. The injury is undisclosed, but we do know that he suffered it during the Vanderbilt game. Bazelak has thrown for over 2100 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions this year. This is a massive blow for the Tigers, who are already huge underdogs because they are very inexperienced behind Bazelak. We will likely see a combination of Tyler Macon and Brady Cook. Macon has thrown for 69 yards and 1 touchdown in 2 games this season, while Cook has thrown for 29 yards and 1 touchdown in just 1 game. That’s a combined 98 yards between the two and they will be thrown straight into the fire against the best defense in the country.
The Tigers will likely try to get the run game going to take some of the pressure off these young QBs, but that will be a tall task against a defense that is only giving up an average of 75 yards per game on the ground. The good thing for Missouri fans is that they have a really talented running back in Tyler Badie. He’s ran for 989 yards on 157 attempts and scored 11 touchdowns this season.

Georgia (8-0, 6-0 SEC) will be without one of its star linebackers in Adam Anderson due to a suspension following rape allegations that came out late this week. Anderson has played in every game this season and has been a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. He’s accumulated 32 total tackles, 5 sacks, and 1 interception. He also has 14 quarterback hurries.
Something else to watch will be whether J.T. Daniels plays this week or whether we continue to see backup Stetson Bennett. Daniels has practiced fully for roughly three weeks now after dealing with various injuries this year. Most, including myself, expected him to play last week against Florida, but Bennett was deemed the starter and played the entire game.
