Auburn-Texas A&M Preview

The #13 Aggies play host to #12 Auburn this weekend in a battle of SEC West foes. Auburn currently sits alone at second in the SEC West standings, while Texas A&M is in a three-way tie for third. This game will be a deciding factor in who wins the SEC West because the Aggies still currently have a shot at winning it if they can take care of business on Saturday and win against Ole Miss next weekend. They would also need Alabama to lose another conference game. For Auburn, if they can beat Alabama and win out, they would win the west.

Auburn (6-2, 3-1 SEC) has bounced back nicely since being routed by Georgia at home in October. The Tigers have been playing much better of late and that is the direct result of the improved play of Bo Nix. He has seemed much more composed in the pocket and has used his legs to create plays without being careless with the ball. Nix has thrown for 581 yards and accumulated 6 touchdowns in two games since the Georgia loss.

Texas A&M’s season has completely turned around as well since their upset win against Alabama in early October, specifically offensively. They have scored 35 and 44 in their two games since, albeit against two of the worse teams in the SEC in Missouri and South Carolina, but they have found a groove offensively that they will need to continue against an Auburn defense that’s only allowing 19 points per game. Quarterback Zach Calzada has continued to improve his play since he took over for starter Haynes King in the third game of the year. He has thrown for 1300 yards and 12 touchdowns at a 55% completion percentage this season.
