LSU Heads to Oxford to Take on Ole Miss

After announcing an agreement to part ways after the season with head coach Ed Orgeron, many are interested to see how LSU (4-3, 2-2 SEC) will play from here on out, and it starts in Oxford against #12 Ole Miss (5-1, 2-1 SEC). This will be LSU’s fourth straight top 25 opponent, while the Rebels are looking to take care of business and keep their SEC West hopes alive.

This is the 110th meeting between these two teams, with LSU holding a slight lead in the overall series. The home team has won seven of the last nine. Being on the road this weekend also doesn’t bode well for LSU considering they are 1-2 on the road and Ole Miss is 3-0 at home.

It’s clear to see from the numbers that Ole Miss has the offensive advantage over LSU, but if the Tigers can get their rushing attack going like they did last week against Florida, they may be able to erase that advantage. Ole Miss is giving up almost 200 rushing yards per game to their opponents, so that should be the offensive focus for LSU this week.

LSU linebacker Damone Clark has been lighting up the field with his play this season, and it will be important for him to contain Matt Corral’s running ability if LSU wants their second upset in two weeks. Defensively, neither team has anything to write home about, so expect this one to be very high-scoring.
